Welcome to the website of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church Chicago. Modern communication devices made it possible for all of us to understand each other much faster.  The purpose of this website is to disseminate information regarding us and our activities to those who are interested in our ministry.

This parish is a part of the Southwest American diocese, under the Catholicos of the East, who is the Chief Hierarch sitting on the Apostolic Throne of St. Thomas in the East.  This was formerly in the based in the Middle East, and became defunct due to Muslim persecutions.   The same was restored in Malankara (the ancient name of the present State of Kerala in India) in 1912.  The head of the Orthodox Syrian Church of the East is called Catholicos .

St. Mary’s is the extension of the first ministry for the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Christians that was started in 1971 in chicago.

Rev. Fr. Abi Chacko has been appointed the Vicar of St.Mary's Parish at Oak Lawn, IL and has joined St.Mary's on June 1st, 2010.
